Lawrence J. Gassel

	Lawrence J. Gassel, 71, of DuQuoin, passed away at 3:35 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2001 at Marshall Browning Hospital.
	Mr. Gassel was a dairy farmer and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
	He was born December 27, 1929 at St. Louis, Mo., the son of Bernard and Louise (Gugier) Gassel.  He married Anna B. Mann on August 13, 1951 at Ava.
	 Surviving are his wife Anna Gassel of DuQuoin; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Sherry Gassel of Carlyle, Billie and Pauline Gassel of Elkville and Jerry and Cheryl Gassel of Elkville; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Steve Fulkner of Mesquite, Tex.; one brother, Ben Gassel of DuQuoin; three sisters, Francis Korando of Chester, Rosemary Doll of Chester and Bernice Rickenberg of Tilden and seven grandchildren.
	He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bobby Joe; one daughter, Wanda Terry; one grandson; four brothers and one sister.
	Funeral services were Saturday, March 31 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating.
	Interment was in St. Bruno Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
	Friends called at Neal-McClure Funeral Home on Friday, March 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 to 9:45 a.m. at which time we will move to the church.
	The Rosary was said at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
